Waltzing on Top of the World
18” (d) x 18” (w) x 38” (h)
wood, metal, cardboard, plastic

This piece was inspired by a performance of the song “Waltzing on Top of the World” performed by Jeff and Janet Furman in Saxapahaw, NC.  I was feeling that I was pretty much on top of the world as I am recently retired, living in a wonderful 1880 mill house, have great adult children and grandchildren nearby – doing what I want when I want!  I excavated those “dancing legs” out the ground about 10 years ago in this historic village I live in – saving the old rusty bicycle part for just the right piece of artwork.  So it’s really a self-portrait of sorts.
